Clinical Indications for Women

Approved & *emerging applications for women's bladder health

01

Interstitial Cystitis / BPS

Primary indication. A chronic bladder condition, disproportionately affecting women, causing pelvic pain, urgency, and frequency with no identifiable infection.

02

*Bladder Pain Syndrome

Suprapubic pain related to bladder filling, associated with at least one urinary symptom — common among women presenting with unresolved pelvic pain.

03

*Radiation Cystitis

Bladder inflammation following pelvic radiotherapy, including for gynaecological cancers. PPS aids mucosal repair and symptom relief.

04

*Hemorrhagic Cystitis

Hematuria and bladder irritation from chemotherapy agents. Intravesical PPS may help restore the protective barrier in affected women.

05

*Overactive Bladder (adjunct)

Used adjunctively in women with OAB who have co-existing urothelial dysfunction.

06

*Recurrent UTI Prevention

GAG layer restoration may reduce bacterial adherence and help prevent recurrent lower urinary tract infections, which women experience far more frequently than men.

Use of Elmiron for conditions other than IC/BPS may be considered off-label in some markets. Prescribers evaluating women with these presentations should review current evidence and regional regulatory status. Full prescribing information available on request from Medical Affairs.
